Description
Warm, cinnamon-scented, and filled with tender apple chunks, these Baked Apple Fritters are a lighter twist on a beloved classic. Baked instead of fried and drizzled with a simple glaze, they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert—with all the flavor and none of the deep-frying fuss.

For the Fritters:
-
1½ cups all-purpose flour
-
1½ tsp baking powder

-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
1–2 tbsp milk or cream
-
1 tsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
Instructions

Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. -
Prep Apples:
Peel, core, and dice the apples into small cubes. Set aside. -
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. -

In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until smooth. -
Combine & Fold in Apples:
Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined. Gently fold in diced apples. -
Scoop & Bake:
Drop batter by large spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. -
Make Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar with milk (and lemon juice if using) until smooth and pourable.
-
Glaze & Serve:
Drizzle glaze over slightly cooled fritters. Let set before serving.
Notes
Use tart apples like Granny Smith or sweet ones like Honeycrisp depending on your preference.
Add chopped walnuts or pecans for crunch.
For a maple twist, substitute milk in the glaze with maple syrup.
These taste best fresh but can be reheated gently.
