Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the mashed bananas, yogurt, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, being careful not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips or chocolate chunks.
  • Make sure the bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • If the cake begins to brown too quickly on top, you can cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  • This cake freezes well; wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil to preserve freshness.
