Ingredients
Scale
For the Filling:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
For the Wraps:
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional Garnishes:
- 1 cup salsa
- Fresh cilantro (chopped)
- Sour cream or guacamole (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.
- Add the finely chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened.
- Season the Beef:
- Add the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine, and cook for another 2-3 minutes to let the spices infuse into the beef. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the Wraps:
- Lay out the flour tortillas on a clean surface. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture evenly onto the center of each tortilla.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese over the beef.
- Roll the Wraps:
- Carefully fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it up tightly to form a wrap.
- Cook the Wraps (Optional):
- If you prefer a crispy wrap, heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the wraps seam-side down in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Serve the cheesy beef wraps warm with optional garnishes like salsa, fresh cilantro, and a side of sour cream or guacamole.
Notes
- Feel free to add extra ingredients like sautéed peppers, beans, or corn to the filling for a more flavorful and hearty wrap.
- You can make these wraps ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours before cooking.
- For a spicier kick, add jalapeños to the beef mixture or top with hot sauce.
