Ingredients

Bourbon Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls are an indulgent breakfast treat that takes the classic cinnamon roll to a whole new level. The rich, warm flavors of bourbon and maple syrup meld together with crispy bacon and a soft, fluffy cinnamon roll dough, creating a sweet and savory masterpiece. Perfect for special occasions or weekend mornings, these rolls are a delicious combination of smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors that everyone will love. The bourbon adds a subtle depth of flavor, while the crispy bacon gives a satisfying crunch, making each bite a unique and delightful experience.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:

    • In a bowl, combine the warm milk with 1/3 cup of granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until the mixture is foamy.

    • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, remaining 1/3 cup sugar, eggs, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until combined.

    • Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  • Prepare the Filling:

    • While the dough is rising, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain and crumble into small pieces. Set aside.

    • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, bourbon, maple syrup, and crumbled bacon until smooth and well combined.

  • Assemble the Rolls:

    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).

    • Spread the prepared filling evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch at the top edge. Roll the dough up tightly into a log, starting from one of the long edges.

    • Slice the rolled dough into 12 equal portions and place the rolls into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Bake the Rolls:

    • Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Once the rolls have risen, bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  • Prepare the Glaze:

    • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, bourbon, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth and drizzly.

  • Serve and Enjoy:

    • Once the rolls are done baking, drizzle the glaze over the hot rolls and serve warm.

Notes

  • Bacon: Make sure to cook the bacon crispy so it doesn’t get soggy when mixed into the filling.

  • Bourbon: If you don’t want to use bourbon, you can substitute it with vanilla extract or maple extract for a similar depth of flavor.

  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the rolls the night before by assembling them, covering them, and refrigerating them overnight. In the morning, let them rise for 30 minutes before baking.

  • Storage: Store leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the baked rolls for up to 2 months.
