These adorable Cherry Mitten Hand Pies are the perfect winter dessert! With a sweet and tangy cherry filling wrapped in a flaky, golden crust, these hand pies are shaped like cozy mittens and make a festive addition to any holiday table.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix together the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
  • Roll out the pie crusts and cut out mitten shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • Place a spoonful of the cherry mixture onto half of the pie crust shapes.
  • Top with the remaining pie crust shapes and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  • Brush the hand pies with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to seal the edges of the pies well so the filling doesn’t leak out during baking.
  • For an extra touch, sprinkle the pies with powdered sugar once they’ve cooled.
