Ingredients
Scale
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until thick and lemon-colored. Gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture.
- Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until fully combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
- Remove from the oven and immediately turn the cake onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar. Carefully roll up the cake in the towel and let it cool completely.
- Once cooled, unroll the cake, spread your desired filling over the surface, then roll it back up (without the towel). Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For the filling, you can use whipped cream, chocolate ganache, or any flavored frosting of your choice.
- Make sure to roll the cake while it’s hot to avoid cracking. The towel helps prevent it from sticking.
- This Swiss roll can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
