These delightful, soft cake puffs are a perfect holiday treat! With a rich chocolate flavor and a hint of vanilla, they’re topped with melted chocolate and a dusting of powdered sugar. They make a fun and festive addition to your Christmas dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a mini muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Fill each muffin cup halfway with the batter.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • While the cakes are baking, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth.
  • Once the cake puffs have cooled slightly, dip the tops in the melted chocolate and let them set.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, you can add colorful sprinkles or crushed candy canes on top of the chocolate for extra holiday cheer.
  • If you prefer a richer chocolate coating, you can dip the entire puff in chocolate.
