This Chocolate Pecan Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is a decadent and irresistible dessert. With a rich chocolate cake bottom, gooey cream cheese filling, and crunchy pecans, it’s a perfect treat for chocolate lovers and a great addition to any dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until well combined.
  • Press the cake mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish to form the base layer.
  • In another bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, 2 eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well mixed.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans and powdered sugar.
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake base and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool before slicing into squares. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Notes

  • For a more intense pecan flavor, you can toast the pecans lightly before adding them to the cream cheese mixture.
  • If you prefer a sweeter topping, sprinkle additional powdered sugar on top before serving.
  • This cake can be made a day ahead, as the flavors tend to improve after a day in the fridge.
