Rich, creamy, and indulgent, this Copycat Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce is a delicious homemade version of the iconic restaurant favorite. Made with simple ingredients like butter, cream, garlic, and parmesan, this sauce comes together quickly for a decadent pasta dish you can whip up in under 30 minutes. Whether you’re craving comfort food or planning a cozy dinner, this Alfredo sauce will make any pasta night feel extra special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • 1 pint (2 cups) heavy cream

  • 1 ½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup grated Romano cheese (optional, for added depth)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional, for warmth)

  • Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

  • 1 lb fettuccine or pasta of choice, cooked according to package instructions

Instructions

  • Melt Butter & Sauté Garlic:
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.

  • Add Cream:
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently and cook for about 3–4 minutes to slightly thicken.

  • Melt in Cheese:
Lower the heat and gradually stir in the Parmesan (and Romano, if using), stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  • Season:
Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg if desired. Taste and adjust as needed.

  • Combine with Pasta:
Toss the cooked pasta directly into the sauce, stirring to coat the noodles evenly.

  • Serve:
Plate immediately and garnish with chopped parsley and additional cheese, if desired.

Notes

Use Fresh Parmesan: For the best flavor and texture, always use freshly grated cheese—not the pre-shredded kind.

Add Protein: For a heartier meal, add grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms.

Thin if Needed: If the sauce gets too thick, stir in a splash of pasta water or additional cream to loosen it.
