Description

These Effortless Pecan Pie Squares are the ultimate easy-to-make dessert! With a buttery shortbread crust, a sweet, gooey pecan filling, and a hint of vanilla, these squares are a perfect twist on traditional pecan pie. They’re great for holidays, gatherings, or anytime you’re craving a rich, comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust:
    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • ¼ cup powdered sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the filling:
    • 1 cup light corn syrup
    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 ½ cups pecan halves
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the crust:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and softened butter. Add the vanilla extract and mix until the dough forms a soft, crumbly texture.
  • Press the crust into the pan:
Press the dough evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch baking pan. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until it’s lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  • Prepare the filling:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the pecans:
Stir in the pecan halves into the filling mixture.
  • Assemble and bake:
Pour the pecan mixture over the partially baked crust and spread it out evenly. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden.
  • Cool and cut:
Let the pecan pie squares cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • You can toast the pecans before adding them to the filling for an extra depth of flavor.
  • If you prefer a firmer filling, bake the squares for an additional 5-10 minutes, checking to make sure the filling doesn’t overcook.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
