Description
A creamy, rich chocolate flan infused with Ferrero Rocher chocolates. This indulgent dessert offers a smooth caramelized base and a decadent chocolatey filling, topped with whole Ferrero Rocher candies for the ultimate treat.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Flan:
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 6 Ferrero Rocher chocolates, chopped (plus a few for decoration)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar (for caramelizing)
For the Caramel:
- 1/2 cup sugar (for caramelizing the flan dish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Make the caramel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup sugar, swirling the pan occasionally to ensure the sugar melts evenly. Once the sugar turns golden brown, pour it immediately into the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan or flan dish, swirling the pan to coat the bottom evenly with caramel. Set aside to cool and harden.
- Prepare the flan mixture: In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
- Gently fold in the chopped Ferrero Rocher chocolates into the flan mixture.
- Pour the flan mixture into the prepared caramel-coated pan.
- Place the pan into a larger baking dish or roasting pan and add hot water to the larger pan, creating a water bath (about halfway up the side of the flan pan).
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the flan is set (a knife inserted should come out clean).
- Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours or overnight for best results.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it from the pan. Place a plate over the pan and invert to release the flan onto the plate.
- Garnish with whole Ferrero Rocher chocolates on top before serving.
Notes
- For extra chocolate flavor, you can drizzle chocolate syrup over the top or add chocolate shavings.
- The caramel base can be made ahead of time and stored at room temperature for up to a week.
- If you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the flan mixture before pouring it into the pan.
