Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies (regular or double-stuffed)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 12 oz white chocolate chips or white candy melts
- Green food coloring (for the Grinch effect)
- Red candy hearts or mini red M&Ms (for decoration)
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and smashing them with a rolling pin.
- In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix until the cream cheese is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
- Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the Oreo balls for 30 minutes to an hour to help them hold their shape when dipped.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts, adding a few drops of green food coloring to achieve a vibrant Grinch green. Stir the mixture until smooth.
- Dip each frozen Oreo ball into the green chocolate, coating it completely. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the truffle back onto the parchment paper.
- While the coating is still wet, place a red candy heart or mini red M&M on top of each truffle to represent the Grinch’s heart growing three sizes.
- Let the Oreo balls set by allowing them to cool at room temperature or placing them in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
Notes
- You can use dark or milk chocolate if you prefer a different flavor coating, but the white chocolate adds a nice contrast with the green coloring.
- Make sure the Oreo balls are frozen before dipping them in the chocolate to ensure they don’t fall apart in the coating.
- These make great gifts! Just package them in a cute tin or festive box for a Grinch-inspired treat.
