Description

A cozy and creamy skillet-style Stroganoff with ground beef and egg noodles—rich, comforting, easy to make, and perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 6 oz egg noodles

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ¼ cup butter

  • ¼ cup flour

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1¼ cups milk

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ¼ cup sour cream


Instructions

  • Cook noodles following package directions; drain and set aside.

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef (6–8 minutes), drain fat, then transfer to a plate.

  • Melt butter in the same skillet over medium, sprinkle in flour and whisk continuously about 2 minutes to form a roux.

  • Gradually whisk in beef broth; cook 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Stir in milk, cooking another 5–7 minutes until sauce is smooth and creamy.

  • Season with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.

  • Reduce heat to low; return ground beef and noodles to the skillet, stirring until fully combined and heated through.

  • Remove from heat and gently stir in sour cream until silky and tangy.

 

  • Serve warm, optionally with vegetables or garlic toast.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sautéing mushrooms or onions with the beef.

Greek yogurt or cream cheese can substitute sour cream.

Swap noodles for gluten-free or low-carb options like zucchini noodles or cauliflower mash.

Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley make a great garnish.
