  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: 28 minutes
  • Yield: 12 pinwheels 1x

Description

Crispy, golden, and packed with flavor, these ham and cheese puff pastry pinwheels make the perfect snack, appetizer, or lunchbox treat. With layers of sweet chili sauce, savory deli ham, melty cheese, and briny olives rolled into buttery puff pastry, they’re as easy to make as they are irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (chilled, ~9 oz / 260 g)

  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce (75 g)

  • 7 oz deli ham (thinly sliced, ~200 g)

  • 6 slices cheese (any melty cheese like Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella – ~120 g)

  • ⅓ cup pitted olives, finely chopped (~45 g)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Unroll or unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

  • Spread sweet chili sauce evenly across the pastry.

  • Layer ham slices over the sauce, followed by the cheese slices.

  • Sprinkle chopped olives evenly over the top.

  • Starting from one end, tightly roll the pastry into a log.

  • Slice the log into approximately 12 equal pinwheels.

  • Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the baking sheet, spacing them out.

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

  • Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

Note 1: Use store-bought puff pastry that’s been thawed if frozen. Don’t let it get too warm before working with it.

Note 2: Sweet chili sauce adds a subtle kick—swap with honey mustard or pesto if preferred.

Note 3: Any deli ham works—smoked, honey-roasted, or black forest for extra flavor.

Note 4: Use your favorite melting cheese—cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or gouda are all great choices.

Note 5: Black or green olives work—omit if serving picky eaters or substitute with sundried tomatoes or jalapeños for variety.
