Description

These Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies are a fun and festive take on the classic chocolate chip cookie. With a soft and chewy center, crispy edges, and plenty of chocolate chips, these cookies are the perfect treat for a special occasion or just to brighten someone’s day.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: The base of the cookie dough.
  • Baking Soda: Helps the cookies rise and gives them a light texture.
  • Salt: Enhances the flavor of the dough.
  • Unsalted Butter: Softened butter provides richness and a tender texture.
  • Brown Sugar: Adds sweetness and a subtle molasses flavor.
  • Granulated Sugar: For the right amount of sweetness.
  • Eggs: Helps bind the dough together.
  • Vanilla Extract: For a warm, comforting flavor.
  • Chocolate Chips: Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips for the classic chocolatey goodness.
  • Red Sprinkles (optional): To add a festive touch for holidays like Valentine’s Day.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until creamy. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully combined.
  • Add the Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Shape the Cookies: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes from the dough. Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
  • Bake: Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  • Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Decorate (Optional): Once cooled, you can sprinkle red sprinkles on top of the cookies for a festive touch.
  • Serve: Enjoy these delicious heart-shaped treats with your loved ones!

Notes

  • You can use any type of chocolate chips or even mix in M&M’s or white chocolate chips for variation.
  • If the dough is too sticky, chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before rolling it out.
  • For a soft texture, do not overbake the cookies; they’ll continue to cook slightly once removed from the oven
