Ingredients
-
1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
 -
1 ½ cups milk (whole or 2%)
 -
1 cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)
 -
1 pre-made angel food cake (14 oz), cut into 1-inch cubes
 -
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
 -
1 tub (8 ounces) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

-
2 tablespoons toasted slivered almonds

Instructions
-
Prepare Pudding Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and milk until smooth and thickened. Gently fold in sour cream (or Greek yogurt) until well combined.
 -
Layer the Cake: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, arrange half of the angel food cake cubes evenly along the bottom.
 -
Add Pie Filling: Spoon about 2/3 of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.
 -
Add Remaining Cake: Layer the rest of the cake cubes over the cherry filling.
 -
Spread Pudding Mixture: Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake cubes, spreading with a spatula.
 -
Top with Whipped Topping: Spread the whipped topping over the pudding layer.
 -
Finish with Cherries & Almonds: Spoon the remaining cherry pie filling over the top and sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds.

-
Chill: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow flavors to meld and cake to set.

Notes
You can use other pie fillings like blueberry, strawberry, or peach for variety.
For a lighter version, use sugar-free pudding and light whipped topping.
Toast almonds in a dry pan over medium heat for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.
