Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Let it cool and crumble it into small pieces.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until thickened. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the thawed whipped topping.
  • In a trifle dish, layer half of the crumbled chocolate cake, followed by half of the pudding mixture, half of the cream cheese mixture, and half of the cherry pie filling. Repeat the layers.
  • Garnish with chocolate shavings on top.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld together.

Notes

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, you can add a layer of chocolate ganache or melted chocolate between the layers.
