Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. boneless steak (like sirloin or fillet), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
For the Sauce:
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce or mirin
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce (or mirin), and pepper to create the sauce. Set aside.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the butter and sesame oil (if using). Once the butter is melted and sizzling, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the cut steak pieces to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5-6 minutes or until the steak is browned and cooked through to your desired level of doneness.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the steak and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the meat and caramelize slightly.
- Serve the Hibachi steak with steamed rice, vegetables, or your favorite hibachi sides.
Notes
- You can substitute sesame oil with olive oil if you prefer.
- If you like a sweeter sauce, add a little honey or brown sugar to taste.
- You can also grill the steak instead of cooking it in a skillet for a more authentic hibachi flavor.
