- ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup finely chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable oil or canola oil)
- 1 ½ tablespoons garlic (minced, or 4 large cloves garlic, minced)
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar (apple cider or rice wine vinegar – optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- ¾ teaspoon fresh minced ginger
- 2 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs
- 1 pinch salt (to season)
- 1 pinch pepper (to season)
- 1 pinch fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, green onions, cooking oil, minced garlic, vinegar, sesame oil (if using), and minced ginger until well combined.
- Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken and seal the bag or cover the dish. Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for more flavor).
- Prepare for Baking: After marinating, remove the chicken from the bag or dish and place the chicken thighs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a lightly greased baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bake the Chicken: Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is cooked through. You can also broil for the last 2–3 minutes to get a slightly crispy exterior.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can baste the chicken with the marinade during the baking process, but be sure to discard any leftover marinade that has touched raw chicken to avoid contamination.
- Feel free to add some chili flakes or chopped chili to the marinade if you prefer a spicy kick.
