This Hot Sausage Beer Cheese Dip is the ultimate game day snack or party appetizer! Creamy, cheesy, and packed with savory sausage and a touch of beer, this dip is rich, flavorful, and irresistibly good. Perfect for dipping with chips, pretzels, or fresh veggies, it’s sure to be a hit at your next gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (16 oz) breakfast sausage (spicy or mild, based on preference)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup beer (lager or ale works best)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chopped parsley or chives, for garnish (optional)
  • Chips, pretzels, or vegetables, for dipping

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Make the Cheese Sauce: Add the cream cheese to the skillet with the cooked sausage. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and well combined with the sausage.
  • Add Beer and Spices: Pour in the beer, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt and pepper to taste. Stir until everything is smooth and combined.
  • Add the Cheeses: Slowly add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the dip is smooth.
  • Simmer and Stir: Allow the dip to simmer on low heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to your desired consistency.
  • Serve: Transfer the dip to a serving dish, garnish with chopped parsley or chives, if desired, and serve with chips, pretzels, or fresh veggies for dipping.

Notes

  • For an even creamier dip, add more cream cheese or a bit of sour cream.
  • Adjust the level of heat by increasing or decreasing the cayenne pepper or using a different type of sausage (spicy sausage for more heat).
  • This dip can be made ahead of time and reheated in the microwave or on the stovetop.
