This hearty and comforting casserole combines all the flavors of a classic meatball sub in a simple, baked dish. With tender meatballs, crispy French bread cubes, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, it’s a family favorite meal that’s easy to make and sure to satisfy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen meatballs
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the frozen meatballs, French bread cubes, and marinara sauce. Stir to coat the bread and meatballs evenly with sauce.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top of the casserole.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can use homemade or store-bought marinara sauce for convenience.
  • If you prefer, you can swap out the French bread for a different type of bread (like hoagie rolls) for added flavor.
  • For extra richness, you can add a bit of ricotta cheese or provolone to the top.
