Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolatey goodness)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line 4 mini loaf pans (about 5 inches each) with parchment paper.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the milk and sour cream, combining everything until smooth.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Add Chocolate Chips: If using, fold in the chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.
- Pour into Pans: Divide the batter evenly among the mini loaf pans, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. You can also gently press the top of the loaves to see if they spring back.
- Cool and Serve: Let the mini loaves cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- If you don’t have mini loaf pans, you can bake this in a regular loaf pan for about 50-60 minutes.
- For a more decadent touch, drizzle the loaves with melted chocolate or a chocolate glaze once they’ve cooled.
- These mini loaves are perfect for gifting. Wrap them up in parchment paper or small gift bags with a ribbon for a sweet presentation.
