Description

These Mini Chocolate Loaves are rich, moist, and perfectly sized for individual servings. With layers of deep chocolate flavor and a soft, tender crumb, these little loaves make an irresistible treat for any chocolate lover. Ideal for a sweet snack, dessert, or even as a gift, these mini loaves are both adorable and delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolatey goodness)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line 4 mini loaf pans (about 5 inches each) with parchment paper.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the milk and sour cream, combining everything until smooth.
  • Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Add Chocolate Chips: If using, fold in the chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.
  • Pour into Pans: Divide the batter evenly among the mini loaf pans, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  • Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. You can also gently press the top of the loaves to see if they spring back.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the mini loaves cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t have mini loaf pans, you can bake this in a regular loaf pan for about 50-60 minutes.
  • For a more decadent touch, drizzle the loaves with melted chocolate or a chocolate glaze once they’ve cooled.
  • These mini loaves are perfect for gifting. Wrap them up in parchment paper or small gift bags with a ribbon for a sweet presentation.
