Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Stir in flour, salt, and almond extract until well combined.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Make an indentation in the center of each cookie with your thumb or the back of a spoon.
- Fill each indentation with cherry preserves.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 14-16 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, before serving.
