  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: About 1 hr 45 min (including rises)
  • Yield: 12–16 rolls
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Soft, fluffy, and buttery sweet—these iconic dinner rolls mimic the cult-favorite served at Texas Roadhouse. Paired with dreamy cinnamon honey butter, they’re the perfect indulgence for any meal or celebration.

Ingredients

  • For the Rolls:

    • 3½ cups all-purpose flour

    • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast

    • 1¼ cups warm milk (110°F/43°C)

    • ½ cup honey or sugar

    • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter

    • 1 tsp salt

    • 1 large egg

    • ~3–4 Tbsp warm water (if needed)

  • For Cinnamon Honey Butter:

    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

    • ¼ cup honey

    • ¼ cup powdered sugar

    • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Activate Yeast – Whisk warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let stand until foamy (~5–10 min).

  • Make Dough – In mixer, beat butter, egg, salt into milk mixture. Gradually add flour. Knead until smooth, adding water if needed.

  • First Rise – Cover bowl; let dough rise in warm place until doubled (~1 hour).

  • Shape Rolls – Punch dough, roll out, cut into 12–16 pieces. Place on greased sheet or pan.

  • Second Rise – Cover; let rise until puffy (~30–45 min).

  • Bake – Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Bake rolls 15–20 min until golden brown.

  • Brush Butter – Immediately brush tops with melted butter after baking.

  • Make Honey Butter – Whip butter, honey, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Serve with warm rolls.

Notes

Use whole milk for richer rolls.

Don’t skip the second rise—fluffiness depends on it.

A stand mixer with dough hook saves time.

Brush butter before and after baking for glossy tops.
