  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These perfectly crispy and sweet baklava bites feature layers of buttery phyllo dough filled with a rich mixture of chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon. Once baked, they are drenched in a fragrant honey syrup for a truly indulgent treat that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Baklava:

  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pistachios, or almonds)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, mix together the chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
  • Layer phyllo dough sheets in the baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter as you go.
  • Sprinkle a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  • Continue layering phyllo dough and nut mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of phyllo dough on top.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into small squares or diamond shapes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the baklava is golden brown and crispy.
  • While the baklava is baking, combine honey and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the baklava is done baking, pour the hot honey syrup over the hot baklava.
  • Allow the baklava to cool completely before serving, so the syrup has time to soak in and set.

Notes

  • Be sure to brush each layer of phyllo dough with butter to achieve a crisp texture.
  • The syrup should be poured over the baklava while both the baklava and syrup are still hot for the best absorption.
