Ingredients
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
1/2 cup powdered sugar
-
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup cornstarch
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Sprinkles, jam, or melted chocolate (optional, for decorating)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
-
Whip butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar on high for 5–7 minutes, until very light and fluffy.
-
Add dry ingredients: Sift in flour and cornstarch. Add vanilla. Mix on low until combined, then beat briefly on medium speed.
-
Shape cookies: Pipe dough using a large star tip or scoop onto prepared baking sheets. Space 1 inch apart.
-
Decorate: Add sprinkles or press a small indent in the center to fill with jam.
-
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until bottoms are just lightly golden.
-
Cool completely on wire racks before serving or storing.
Notes
Use room-temperature butter for best whipping results.
Do not overbake—the cookies should remain pale on top and just golden on the bottom.
Double-strain flour and cornstarch to avoid lumps and keep the texture smooth.
You can pipe, scoop, or roll and flatten these cookies based on your preference.
Store in airtight containers to maintain freshness.
