Ingredients
- ¼ cup yellow cornmeal (to prevent sticking and create a crispy crust)
- 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, finely grated
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 6 ounces fresh mozzarella, torn into small pieces
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- ⅓ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it’s heating to ensure a crispy crust. -
Prepare the pizza dough:
Roll out the pizza dough on a surface dusted with a little cornmeal to prevent sticking. Aim for a 12-inch round pizza shape, or adjust the size according to your preference. -
Add the olive oil and garlic:
Brush the rolled-out dough with the 2 tablespoons of olive oil, ensuring an even layer. Sprinkle the finely grated garlic over the oil for an aromatic base. -
Season the pizza:
Sprinkle the crushed red pepper flakes, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper over the dough to taste. -
Add the cheeses:
Evenly scatter the torn fresh mozzarella over the dough. Add spoonfuls of ricotta cheese across the pizza and finish by sprinkling the freshly grated Parmesan on top. -
Bake the pizza:
Place the pizza in the preheated oven (preferably on a pizza stone or baking sheet) and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
-
Garnish and serve:
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves for a burst of herbal freshness. Slice and serve immediately!
Notes
- For an extra depth of flavor, drizzle a little more olive oil on the crust before baking.
- You can add a touch of lemon zest or a drizzle of honey for a unique twist.
- If you prefer, you can make your own pizza dough for a completely homemade experience.
