- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
For the Topping:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar and hot water. Carefully pour this mixture over the batter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
- In a small bowl, mix the 1/4 cup of sugar with the 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and sprinkle this mixture over the top of the cobbler.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. The cobbler should have a cake-like texture on top with a gooey, syrupy layer underneath.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
- If you’d like, you can also add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the batter for added texture and flavor.
